Trimble Platform as a Service - (1:33) Video by - Trimble Civil Construction

"Trimble Platform as a Service" Now Available from SITECH Dealers - Construction Equipment

Trimble is making its Trimble Platform as a Service offering publicly available in the U.S. through its SITECH distribution channel.

Trimble Platform as a Service is designed to give contractors the ability to purchase select civil construction hardware and software solutions, pay for the technology with a predictable monthly payment, and continually upgrade those solutions with the latest innovations from the company.

This new subscription model of obtaining and continually upgrading to the newest Trimble technology was first introduced at ConExpo 2020 in March. Since then, Trimble says it and its SITECH dealer partners have been inundated with requests from contractors interested in moving to the new subscription model "because of its flexibility and low up-front cost."

Under the Trimble Platform as a Service model, contractors can shift their technology investment from a capital expense to an operating expense; get automatic upgrades to new versions of Trimble hardware, software and firmware; and conserve cash.

Service, support replacement parts, and accidental damage repair are all included in the monthly payment.

Bundled solutions include the Trimble Earthworks Grade Control Platform, Trimble Siteworks Positioning systems, Trimble Correction Services, and select office software . . .

Interview: Giving Construction Machinery a Brain - International Construction

The topic of construction technology is so large, encompasses so many different areas such as BIM, electric and hybrid power, drones, automation and remote control that it can be difficult to know where to start. This is why it can be good to get back to basics and reiterate the importance that those in the industry embrace it.

On the subject of technology in the construction industry Scott Crozier, vice president, Trimble Civil Engineering and Construction, states that, “If you’re not using technology in five years, you’re not going to be able to be competitive.”

Crozier accepts that in the beginning it was the larger contractors that were the ‘innovators’ and adopted construction technology, but says that the tide is now beginning to turn and increasing amounts of smaller contractors are embracing it. “We see a big gap at the smaller contractor level, between those that don’t believe in it and those that realise they are not going to be in business if they don’t invest in it.”  . . .

Seven Ways Small Farms Can Benefit from Precision Ag - Trimble Agriculture Blog

As farmers and ranchers directly hit by wildfires continue to assess property damage and losses, smoke and ash from blazes burning throughout the West have created their own problems and concerns.

Perhaps the most serious impacts have been felt by winegrape growers, some of whom have had their entire crops spoiled by smoke and rejected as unusable by wineries.

Sonoma County winegrape grower Ryan Petersen's vineyard outside Healdsburg suffered burns to half the property from the LNU Lightning Complex fire earlier this month. Though the other half of the vineyard did not get scorched, he said none of the grapes will be salvageable because of "significant damage" from the smoke.

Petersen said he is not alone. He manages vineyards for clients throughout the Sonoma County region whose grapes have also been affected by smoke, some at levels wineries will not accept. Many continue to . . . .
